Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to work as part of the team in our corporate office in Phoenix. This is a hybrid position with in-office and remote working days. This role reports to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for daily accounting activities supporting the financial obligations of the organization. The Senior Accountant needs knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial data, prepare standard journal entries, maintain fixed assets, reconciling complex accounts, and prepare financial reports for management. This role requires precision, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Compile and analyze financial information
  • Records journal entries and reconciles Balance Sheet activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness with adequate supporting documentation
  • Review revenue/expense entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies as necessary.
  • Maintains fixed asset system, including posting monthly journal entries to record all depreciation, amortization, additions and disposals
  • Prepares and monitors monthly accruals and adjusts as needed.
  • Support external audits and tax preparation, including providing schedules and documentation.
  • Record and reconcile debt service payments and escrows schedules
  • Identifies opportunities and areas for improvement and/or implements procedures, processes, or tools that improve efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with property managers and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in special ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Proficiency in Accounting ERP software (NetSuite, Yardi, MRI etc) NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent Analytical and oral/written communication skills. 
  • Must have knowledge of the best practices in accounting.
  • Capacity to multitask to accomplish goals by utilizing resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Open to change and enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
  • Maintains a positive attitude that supports team performance and productivity.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with all MS Office applications.
  • Advanced quantitative and spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience with real estate ERP, preferably NetSuite
